So what the hell happened to that plucky DIY NIN we all fell in love with in 2008? Trent Reznor explains why he and the band came out of retirement and signed with Columbia records after a little self release. He’s says he’s no major label apologist, but a major label was the best way to get the music out there. He says labels have downsized, and it sounds like doing your own thing takes a lot more work. Maybe self release just isn’t as satisfying as a group orgy effort!
