Before moving to LA in early 2013 I worked at a radio station in Seattle for 14 years. In that time I got to meet a lot of cool people and do a lot of cool things. ALT 98.7 has that unique combination of respect for the music and the ability to have fun on the air that I loved so much at my gig in the Pacific Northwest. It's a perfect fit as I learn to live and love southern California. I'm lucky to be working here - this station rules.
Important Personal Details:
I've got a tattoo of Sasquatch on my right arm.
I would like to see Lou Reed before he dies or I die.
2 of my cats have only 3 legs.
Last weekend at a show in North Carolina – Gregg Gillis – better known a mash-up wiz kid Girl Talk unveiled two pretty impressive pairings.
The first pairs Kanye West’s “Black Skinhead” with Marilyn Manson’s “Beautiful People” – a funny combo since most people assumed Kanye used a Manson sample to begin with (he didn’t) Kanye West/Marilyn Manson
The second has Michael Jackson’s “Remember The Time” joining forces with Daft Punk’s “Get Lucky” – the result is magic Daft Punk/Michael Jackson
Chicago punks Rise Against are set to release a 26 song rarities compilation called “ Long Forgotten Songs: B-Sides & Covers 2000 – 2013 “ on September.
Taken from the entirety of their career (even the pre Fat Wreck Chords days) – the songs have one thing in common – none of them have appeared on a Rise Against studio album.
“In the last thirteen or so years Rise Against has put out six records, each one we are proud to put our name on” lead singer Tim McIlrath. said in a statement
“But we are just as proud of these 26 songs that slipped through the cracks and never ended up on any of our full lengths. In various ways, most of these songs saw the light of day at some point, but we thought we would spare you the digging and put them all on one record.”
You can pre-order the record starting on July 30th via RiseAgainst.com
